"National Matters" is one of the first GM blogs in baseball with inside analysis and expert insight on the game and the Nationals. As part of the partnership, Rizzo will write a weekly blog and answer fan questions each week. Rizzo will also discuss the development of key prospects, the performance of the Major League club and his perspective on the game. Rizzo joins fellow manager Jim Riggleman and slugger Adam Dunn, who also contribute regularly on MASNsports.com during the season. "The way we communicate with our fans is changing and I'm excited to lead the way," said General Manager Mike Rizzo. "This is a really great opportunity to interact with our fans, to consider their questions, to explain how we reach decisions as a franchise and even to hear alternative ideas and perspectives." After serving as interim general manager for six months, Mike Rizzo was named General Manager of the Washington Nationals in August of 2009. A 27-year veteran of professional baseball, Rizzo joined the franchise in 2006 to oversee the entire scouting operation. He spent seven seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks before coming to Washington. "It's an honor to add Mike's unique perspective and decades of baseball experience to our team at MASNsports.com," said MASN spokesman Todd Webster. "MASN continues to bring fans onto the field, into the dugout and now, all the way to the GM's desk to cover every aspect of Nationals baseball." With every available Nationals game live and in high definition, an All Star talent team, Nats Xtra before and after every game, MASN provides maximum access to the Washington Nationals. MASNsports.com provides extensive online coverage of the team with Adam Dunn's "Getting it Dunn" blog, a dedicated beat writer, Ben Goessling, talent blogs featuring Phil Wood, Debbi Taylor, Rob Dibble, Bob Carpenter, Johnny Holliday, Ray Knight and Byron Kerr, a Nationals Buzz blog, up to the minute video clips in MASN's Media Lounge, series previews, live in-game statistics, online chats and more. MASN is currently carried on 23 cable and satellite providers throughout a seven-state region. Check out Mike Rizzo's first post.
