Five members of the Double-A Harrisburg Senators have been named to the Western Division All-Star team for the Eastern League All-Star Game coming up in two weeks.
Outfielder Archie Gilbert and Bill Rhinehart, infielder Tyler Moore and right-handers Brad Peacock and Erik Arnesen were honored with invitations to play in the July 13 Delta Dental Eastern League All-Star contest, hosted by the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
Peacock had another tremendous outing Wednesday, picking up the victory in 5 2/3 one-hit innings, allowing no runs, three walks while striking out six. It was his league-leading ninth win of the season as the Senators beat Richmond, 3-2.
Peacock will play in the Futures Game July 10 in Phoenix, before flying back to New Hampshire for the Eastern League All-Star appearance three days later.
Arnesen makes his fourth consecutive start Thursday night against New Britain Rock Cats in Connecticut. He has a 4-1 record with a 2.22 ERA for the Senators. He went 0-2 in three starts, with a 3.57 ERA for the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs.
Arnesen has appeared as a reliever 10 times this season, posting a 2-0 record with a 1.78 ERA. He has allowed only one earned run in his last 13 innings as a starter.
Gilbert has remained consistent throughout the season for the Senators. He is batting .297 through 65 games, with seven doubles, nine homers, 18 stolen bases and 25 RBIs.
He has had a nice run the last 10 games, at .333 in his first season with the Nationals organization. This is Gilbert's third All-Star game invitation.
First baseman Moore has cooled off a little recently, but has maintained the power numbers he displayed last season as Carolina League Player of the Year.
The Mississippi State Bulldog is batting .257 in 75 games, but has tallied 20 doubles, four triples, 14 home runs and 44 RBI. This will be Moore's first All-Star appearance.
Rhinehart has crushed 10 doubles, two triples, 12 homers and 33 RBIs in 63 games, with a .257 average. This is the Arizona Wildcat's third All-Star citation.
