Brian Roberts talks about the atmosphere around Oriole Park and how the wind helped his HR
Roberts is now batting .294 with two homers and 8 RBI. The rest of the Orioles have eight RBI combined.
Wednesday night the Orioles will try to match the best start in team history. The 1970 World Champs are the only O's team to ever begin a season at 5-0.
"I don't think anybody has ever had a bad 4-0 start," Roberts said. "It's been awesome. Certainly, I've been through a lot, we all know that. I think a lot of people expected us to play well, but it's harder as a lot of teams know, when people expect you to play well to go out and do it.".
Roberts' blast to right center in the fifth off Rick Porcello made it a 4-1 O's lead and came on a 1-2 pitch.
"When I hit it I wasn't thinking it would be a home run, but I had assumed I got the run in. Some hurricane hit it or something."
Now Roberts has three multi-RBI games in four starts after posting just two of those in 59 games in 2010. He's enjoying hitting at the top of this lineup.
"I knew I would have some opportunities, but I didn't know I'd have this many this early," Roberts said. "I think that was the whole plan when Andy and Buck put this roster together was to have one through nine that could hurt you," he said.
