You can speculate that Boras is trying to drum up a market, since the Cardinals appear to be the only serious contender with the Yankees reportedly out of the picture. But there are countless industry types who hear something and pass it along as fact. Just to clarify, the Orioles are denying everything in the report, including the attempts to set up a meeting with Holliday in Texas. It's not just the years and the dollar amount. One official said there wasn't one piece of information that was accurate.
