I never expected the New York Yankees to provide a lasting image from tonight's tribute to Mike Flanagan. The entire Yankees team stood outside its dugout, many players with caps in hand, while highlights and photos of Flanagan were shown on the video board in center field. They applauded, along with the Orioles and their fans, at the conclusion before heading back to the bench.
It reminded me of the night Cal Ripken Jr. voluntarily ended his consecutive games streak. The first pitch was thrown, Ripken's image appeared on the video board, and the Yankees stepped out of the dugout to salute him. This game is scoreless in the bottom of the second inning.
