Out of the Park: City keys, a rap song and a Nats license plate

Obviously, there was a lot happening on social media last week with the Winter Meetings at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, however much of it was just hearsay. Those posts were mostly focused on what was happening (or could happen) on the field.

This being our third edition of Out of the Park, you know by now we are more concerned with what is going on with the Nationals off the diamond, and this week didn't disappoint.

You knew it was going to be a big week when the City of Las Vegas announced it was going to give National League MVP Bryce Harper and his fellow Vegas native, NL Rookie of the Year Kris Bryant, keys to the city!

An exciting week continued for Harper, as he was honored in his hometown and also in his baseball home. D.C. rapper Wale announced last week that he was releasing a new song inspired by the MVP, and on Wednesday, he released "MVP (Bryce Harper)" via his Twitter account. The song also mentions Gio Gonzalez, Max Scherzer, Dusty Baker, Jayson Werth, Jonathan Papelbon, Stephen Strasburg and fomer National Yunel Escobar.

You can follow the link in the tweet below to Wale's SoundCloud page to listen to the song, but be aware of mature language.

MASN's F.P. Santangelo felt bad that his on-air partner Bob Carpenter didn't get a shoutout, so he gave Wale a suggestion for the rapper's next song.

While Santangelo was giving suggestions to Wale, he was also taking suggestions from NatsTown for his new Nats-inspired license plate. But there was really only one logical answer ...

Let's bounce back to the D.C. love to wrap up. With the National Basketball Association season nearing its halfway point, voting for the All-Star Game in Toronto has picked up, and Harper and Gonzale knew who they were voting for: Wizards point guard John Wall.

Bonus: While we'll be taking a break for the next couple of weeks for the holidays, we leave you with these two throwbacks to Winterfest from Bryce and MASN's Dan Kolko

Happy holidays, everyone! See you in 2016!

P.S. May the Force be with you all.
