MASN will televise Stephen Strasburg's second Triple-A start, as the Norfolk Tides visit the Syracuse Chiefs on Wednesday May 12th. MASN will show the Strasburg game via tape delay starting at about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, following the Orioles-Mariners tilt at 7:00 p.m. Last Friday, in Strasburg's first game with the Chiefs, the highly touted prospect allowed just one hit and no runs through six innings. In the stellar outing, which was also televised on MASN, Strasburg struck out...

Cliff Lee vs. David Hernandez. Lee: 0-1, 2.40 ERA. Hernandez: 0-4, 5.74 ERA. Lee: no walks, 13 strikeouts in 15 innings. Hernandez: 19 walks, 20 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings. Lee: 3-0, 2.70 ERA lifetime vs. the Orioles. Hernandez: 0-2, 5.09 ERA lifetime vs. the Mariners. Don't worry. Patterns are made to be broken. The Mariners lost eight in a row before ending the streak on Sunday. They fired their hitting coach (yeah, yeah, I know). There's growing speculation that Ken Griffey Jr. will...

Checking on some O's and Mariners stats as those teams begin a three-game series tonight at Camden Yards. The Orioles scored just one run and hit .161 (10 for 62) in losing the last two games of the Minnesota series. The Birds have scored two runs or less in five of the last seven games. The Orioles have gone without a hit with runners in scoring position in six of their last seven games. They went 8 for 16 with RISP in the other game which was the first game of Saturday's...

O's outfielder Adam Jones is struggling at bat, and the worry for fans - and for team officials as well - is that this could be more than just a slump. It hasn't been only a series, road trip or month where Jones has been not great at bat, but all season, and his struggles date back well into last year. This time in 2009, Jones was looking great at the plate, just like the All-Star he would soon be. But the story has been different since the first of June last season, after Jones' torrid...

Double-A Bowie's Steve Johnson got another no-decision tonight after holding Richmond to two hits over six scoreless innings. He walked four and struck out six, and he'll wake up tomorrow with a 3.08 ERA. Johnson hasn't gotten the win in three starts this season when he's shut out the opponent. Triple-A Norfolk's Jake Arrieta allowed three runs (two earned) and four hits over seven innings, with five walks and six strikeouts. He also was stuck with a no-decision, as reliever Ross Wolf...

The leftovers are in the fridge and the dishes are clean. Time to take a quick scan of the farm system. Corey Patterson is starting in right field tonight for Triple-A Norfolk. He's 1-for-2 with a triple and run scored, raising his average to .373. Scott Moore is 2-for-2 with a triple. Josh Bell, serving as the designated hitter, has an RBI. Bell played third base yesterday, but he's back at DH tonight. No idea why. He should be starting at third regularly since he's far from...

Don't forget that tomorrow night is Brian Matusz T-Shirt Tuesday at Oriole Park. Be one of the first 10,000 fans 15 and older to get to the ballpark before the O's take on the Mariners Tuesday night to pick up your free Brian Matusz T-shirt. The shirts are orange and feature the "Baltimore" script and Matusz's number across the front and the pitcher's name and number, jersey-style, on the back. Also in case you're interested, it's Ollie's Bargain Night, which takes place every...

Earlier today I wrote about Frederick Keys reliever Brandon Cooney. The hard-throwing right-hander is Frederick's closer and off to a great start. He is 2-0, 0.60 and tied for the Carolina League lead with five saves. Cooney, a 30th-round pick in 2007 out of Florida Atlantic, has pitched 15 innings for the Keys and has allowed 12 hits and just one earned run on the season, with seven walks to 18 strikeouts. Cooney seems like someone eager to learn and says he has gotten solid instruction...
