Grayson Rodriguez, the No. 1 pitching prospect in baseball who appeared on the verge of making his Orioles debut, has been diagnosed with a strained right lat muscle. He underwent an orthopedic exam and MRI earlier today in Baltimore, which revealed the exact nature of the injury. Rodriguez left last night’s game at Triple-A Norfolk after 5 2/3 sco

CINCINNATI – Nationals manager Davey Martinez was impressed with Evan Lee’s major league debut Wednesday against the Mets. The 24-year-old’s 3 ⅔ innings on 67 pitches was strong enough for the skipper to suggest the left-hander would get another chance to pitch in the big leagues. Whether that’s in the form of another start or an appearance out of

Orioles lefty reliever Cionel Pérez, who is having a big year out of the bullpen, was a member of the high Single-A Buies Creek Astros in 2017. He pitched in just 25 1/3 innings for that team, but his pitching coach was Chris Holt. The same guy who is Baltimore's pitching coach now. Pérez remembered today that Holt helped him, and having Holt here

Grayson Rodriguez is undergoing further testing today in Baltimore, and the Orioles hope to have more information later. Rodriguez left last night’s start after 5 2/3 scoreless innings with discomfort in his right lat. There’s definitely some concern within the organization because Rodriguez is the No. 1 pitching prospect in baseball and nearing hi

The Nationals continue their 10-game road trip with a four-game set this weekend against the Reds that could help determine who gets next year’s No. 1 overall pick in the draft. (Although the implementation of the draft lottery next year will als

NEW YORK – Though he’d never admit it publicly, Mike Rizzo knew what this season likely had in store for the Nationals. From the moment he dealt away eight veterans at last July’s trade deadline and made only modest acquisitions to account for it last winter, the longtime general manager signaled 2022 would be less about wins and losses and more ab

The smile, chuckle and slight eye roll gave away Trey Mancini’s opinion on the subject, and he didn’t need to hear the rest of the question. He knew what was coming and found the amusement in it. Adley Rutschman began last night’s game on the bench, a break that manager Brandon Hyde planned in advance. Baseball’s top prospect is living up to the de

Sure the Orioles mashed four homers last night in a 9-2 win over Seattle and sure they even crushed a couple of balls over the left-field wall. That seems to make news around here these days. But maybe the biggest development for the Orioles came on a single and double. Because they came off the bat of center fielder Cedric Mullins. He set a very h

The idea of platooning Orioles second baseman Rougned Odor doesn’t seem to carry the same logic as it did earlier in the season. Manager Brandon Hyde kept Odor in the lineup tonight against Mariners left-hander Robbie Ray. One pitch validated his decision. Odor jumped on a slider from Ray in the second inning and drove it to the back of the flag co
