(Washington D.C.) -- MASN, the local leader in live sports entertainment, will carry eight East Carolina Pirates football games this season, as part of a renewed partnership with the university. Beginning on September 5th with an intra-state rivalry between ECU and
App State, MASN will carry 3 live Pirates games and 5 replays throughout the season.
The addition of eight ECU Pirates games to MASN's already extensive NCAA football schedule offers fans from Harrisburg, PA to Charlotte, NC an inside look at ECU's impressive football program. Led by Coach Skip Holtz, the Conference USA champion Pirates went 9-5 in 2008 with a trip to the Liberty Bowl.
"We are excited to renew our broadcast partnership with MASN," ECU Director of Athletics Terry Holland said. "The tremendous television exposure that MASN provides, throughout the network's seven-state territory, benefits our fans and our alumni, and gives our recruiting efforts a shot in the arm."
MASN will televise ECU match-ups with Appalachian State, North Carolina, UCF, SMU, Memphis, Virginia Tech, Tulsa, and UAB.
Every Wednesday, MASN will also carry the Skip Holtz Show, where the fifth-year head coach offers in-depth game analysis and fields questions from fans. The Skip Holtz Show premiers on MASN September 2nd at 1 p.m. MASN airs re-plays of the Skip Holtz Show every Saturday morning.
MASN has partnered with ECU in the past, carrying nearly a dozen Pirates games in previous seasons. The new partnership will include marketing opportunities and pre-game events before ECU home games.
"Coach Holtz and ECU have built an impressive football program in recent years and MASN is excited about this partnership," said MASN spokesman Todd Webster. "Fans throughout North Carolina and the mid-Atlantic will look forward to watching the Pirates this season on MASN."
MASN is North Carolina's home for the Big East Football Game of the Week, as the network televises the best weekly football match-ups from one of the nation's most exciting conferences. The network also has a partnership with the Big South conference and UNC Wilmington, and serves as North Carolina's home for NCAA football and basketball featuring UNCW, UNCC, Davidson, Western Carolina, Appalachian State, Winthrop, Gardner-Webb, Wake Forest, Elon, UNCA and High Point.
