Happy Thanksgiving!
As you're enjoying spending time with friends and family, devouring a big bird on Turkey Day and hopefully watching the Redskins beat up on the Cowboys, MASN is giving Nationals fans a couple of baseball reasons to be thankful this year.
Check out this holiday week's "Nationals Classics" schedule filled with grand slams and a Sunday special marathon victory:
Monday, Nov. 21, 8 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 23, 9 a.m. - Do you want more slams? Jayson Werth crushed one in the eighth inning of a back-and-forth affair against the division rival Marlins on April 9, 2014. Werth went on to record five RBIs in the 10-7 victory, as the Nats went on to sweep the Marlins in our nation's capital.
Sunday, Nov. 27, 1 p.m. - As I mentioned above, the Redskins play on Thanksgiving this year, so there's no D.C. football the Sunday after. Have no fear, we've got baseball for you, and a lot of it at that. Is it just me, or did it seem like the Nationals played a lot of long extra-inning games this year? And did it seem like they often came on Sundays? Well, as a matter of fact, the Nats played five of their 13 extra-inning games on Sunday this year, by far the most of any other day of the week. And of those five on Sundays, three of them went 13 innings or more. So it's not just me. And it fits perfectly that we replay this 16-inning marathon against the Twins from April 24 on this upcoming Sunday. After Harper hit a pinch-hit homer leading off the ninth to tie the game, Chris Heisey sent everyone home with a walk-off home run in the 16th.
