Orioles-White Sox game postponed

The Orioles have decided to postpone tonight's game against the White Sox at Camden Yards after consultation with Major League Baseball and state and local officials.

No word on a makeup date, but the team stated in a press release that it would be announced "as soon as possible."

Fans are encouraged to keep their tickets and parking passes until more information is made available.

The Orioles will remain in contact with officials while plotting a course of action for Wednesday. Options include an earlier starting time or change in venues.

Attempts were made to play today's game at 4 p.m., but it was deemed wiser to postpone it following last night's rioting in the city. As I wrote previously, there's a heavy National Guard and police presence in the Camden Yards lots this morning.

The White Sox are making their only trip into Baltimore this week, which complicates any rescheduling of games. The Orioles are off Thursday, but the White Sox are in Minnesota.

Last night's series opener also was postponed due to the rioting that following Freddie Gray's funeral in Baltimore.
