MASN announces 2012-13 NCAA college basketball schedule

MASN, the region's leader in live sports entertainment, will broadcast more than 140 men's Division I college basketball games this season, offering its viewers a lineup featuring key local match-ups, Top 25 games and tournament action. The regional sports network's extensive hoops schedule - games will air both on MASN and MASN2 - features men's and women's games from 20 conferences, as well as MASN's annual broadcast of the BB&T Classic in December. Basketball action on MASN tips off on Friday, Nov. 9, when Virginia visits George Mason at 7 p.m. on MASN. The same evening, St. Peter's plays Rutgers at 7:30 p.m. on MASN2. For the seventh season, MASN will serve as the official network of Big East powerhouse Georgetown University, televising 11 Hoyas men's games. MASN's Georgetown schedule begins with a Nov. 14 non-conference home game against Liberty at 7 p.m. Among the preseason Top 25 teams appearing on MASN this season are perennial Big East contenders Louisville, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Cincinnati. MASN's partnership with the Big East will include nearly 100 conference games, including 12 "Big East Game of the Week" broadcasts aired live and in high definition. For the sixth consecutive year, MASN will televise the BB&T Classic, an annual showcase of local college basketball talent held at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. This year's 18th annual BB&T Classic will air on Sunday, Dec. 2 and features games between Manhattan and George Washington at noon, and George Mason and Maryland at 2:30 p.m. MASN enters its seventh season as the official cable television network of the George Mason University Patriots and will televise three games for the Colonial Athletic Association contender, beginning with the Nov. 9 opener against Virginia. Other regional favorites that will play on MASN include William & Mary, UMBC, Morgan State, Towson, Mount St. Mary's, Radford, Loyola, American and VMI. "Whether fans want to watch top nationally ranked programs or check out the best local rivalries, MASN is a hoop fan's dream," said Jim Cuddihy, MASN's executive vice president for marketing, programming and affiliate relations. "With a schedule that stretches from November through conference tournaments, MASN is clearly the region's destination for NCAA basketball this season." In total, 20 conferences will be represented on MASN, including the Atlantic Coast Conference, America East, Atlantic 10, Big 12, Big East, Big South, Colonial Athletic Association, Conference USA, Horizon League, Ivy League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Mid-American Conference, Missouri Valley Conference, Mountain West, Northeast Conference, Patriot League, Southern Conference, Sun Belt Conference and Western Athletic Conference. MASN's extensive hoops coverage also includes 12 women's games, all from the Big East. MASN will air the Georgetown women's game against Seton Hall on Jan. 19, as well as contests during the Big East women's tournament in March. MASN will also carry college magazine and coaches' shows, including "Inside Basketball With Duke's Coach K," "Inside N.C.
