MASN to televise Stephen Strasburg's Spring Training Debut

MASN, the television home of the Washington Nationals, will televise Stephen Strasburg's first spring training appearance on March 9th live at 1 p.m. on MASN and MASN HD from Space Coast Stadium. The network will also televise the replay at 7 p.m. on MASN and MASN HD. Strasburg is expected to pitch two innings for the Nationals, but MASN will televise the entire game. Strasburg, the top selection in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, is hailed as one of the greatest pitching prospects of all time. A standout collegiate player at San Diego State and a key member of Team USA during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, Strasburg is known for a strong blend of velocity and control. The talented prospect is expected to arrive at the Major Leagues quickly and be an important part of the Nationals' rotation for years to come. "This is more great news for Nationals fans, who are incredibly excited to see this talented young pitcher they've heard so much about compete in a Washington Nationals uniform for the first of many times," said Nationals president Stan Kasten. "It is a great time for our franchise, our fans and our viewers on MASN." MASN will air four additional pre-season Nationals games on March 12th, 15th, 24th and April 3rd. The network also provides 24/7 spring training coverage at MASNsports.com, the premier online destination for Nationals news. "MASN's mission is to promote the Nationals and the game of baseball throughout the mid-Atlantic region. There's no better way to generate fan excitement than to televise the first professional game of the most heralded Major League prospect in decades," said MASN spokesman Todd Webster. With every available Nationals game live and in high definition, an All Star talent team and Nats Xtra before and after every game, MASN provides maximum access to the Washington Nationals. MASN is currently carried on 23 cable and satellite providers throughout a seven-state region.
