More pre-game Trembley

Orioles manager Dave Trembley has told players where they'll bat on Opening Day, but he'll continue to move guys around during the final week of spring training. "You always have to have other plans and other backups," he said. "You've got to keep playing with it and use spring training for your benefit. Spring training is to have options, experiment, move guys around. I'm not trying to decoy anybody. I'm not trying to keep you guys (reporters) guessing. It's a long season. You're not going to have the same lineup for 162 games. It's not going to happen. You've got to use spring training for your benefit to put guys in different areas. "There's two left-handed pitchers going the next two days against us. You may see me have (Felix) Pie hit because I want to see if Pie can hit the next two days against a lefty, see if he's more than just a platoon player. You've got to use it to your advantage and that's what I'm trying to do. "You'll see some of the guys who are going to make the club this last week, they're going to go in and pick up guys in the sixth or the seventh, play a little first, play a little third, play a little outfield. (Robert) Andino will play a little second, play a little third." Miguel Tejada is expected to bat cleanup in the opener, but "that doesn't mean he's going to hit fourth all the time," Trembley said. "A guy's hot, you run with him. If a guy's not, you've got to make an adjustment. You know Luke Scott as well as I do. If Luke Scott's hot, he can hit anybody. I don't care who's pitching. There are other times when we're going against a lefty that he's not going to play. You've got to put a righty in there. (Cesar) Izturis is a little bit better right-handed hitter than he is left. He might be up in the lineup against a lefty instead of hitting ninth. "I don't know the situation with (Brian) Roberts. Is Roberts going to be able to play every day or not? I don't know what's going on with him. I might have to give him a day off early in the year. (Nick) Markakis isn't going to play tomorrow. I'll tell you right now. It's a day game after a night game. He's going to do it all year, but I'm going to ask him to play 160 games this year. If I can give him a blow tomorrow and play somebody else out there, I'm going to do it. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong or I'm trying to keep everybody guessing. It's just baseball."
