Ross wins second in a row for Syracuse; Skole leaves game

A positive start for Joe Ross on Wednesday night for Triple-A Syracuse.

Ross pitched seven innings and allowed one run, scattering eight hits. He walked one and struck out six for his second win in a row, a 7-5 victory at Buffalo. He threw 99 pitches, 64 for strikes. He is now 2-2 with a 4.88 ERA.

After Dustin Antolin struggled, Joe Nathan notched two outs for his fourth save of the season.

Ross came up to the Nationals April 19 and pitched seven innings in a win over Atlanta. But in his next two outings, he allowed 10 runs in 8 2/3 innings and was unable to maintain good velocity.

Jhonatan Solano crushed his first grand slam and Clint Robinson hit a two-run shot for the Chiefs offense.

Matt Skole went 1-for-3, but left the game late with what appeared to be a hamstring issue. There's no update on his status.
