Britton, Cruz and Hunter comment after ALCS Game 3 postponement

KANSAS CITY - The consensus of the Orioles players interviewed today after the announcement that Game 3 of the American League Champions Series was rained out is that it doesn't change much. They just have to wait another day to try and get in the win column in this series. But O's closer Zach Britton said it could help the bullpen pitchers that worked in both of the first two games. "Physically it's not bad to have another day, but mentally we want to get back out there and play," Britton said. "We've played all these games in the season to get to this point, so you want to get out there and play." Believe it or not, Britton was asked again today about Jarrod Dyson's comments that were much discussed in the clubhouse yesterday. I promise it wasn't me that asked, but someone did. He was asked if there is such a thing as bulletin board material in the clubhouse. "No, not here. Not for us," he said. "We've done a good (job) of not looking outside of what we're doing as a team and we'll continue to do that. "It is what it is. I mean, they should be confident, right? They played some good games, but we're not going to let what he says dictate the way we go out and play. Things can happen quickly in the game, so you don't let your highs get too high and lows too low." O's reliever Tommy Hunter was asked if this rainout could cool off the red-hot Royals, who are 6-0 this postseason. "They're hot. I don't think it really matters today, tomorrow," Hunter said. "Just come play baseball, that's what we do. I don't think this (will have) any effect on what is going to happen. "There's a 100 percent chance of rain until about five o'clock in the morning so I think we all had an idea we weren't going to play today." What about the O's mindset being down 0-2 in the ALCS? "I don't think it's changed from 0-0 or 0-1, or the sweep last series," Hunter said. "We've got a goal and we're going to try and accomplish it. We've lost two games in a row before and came back and won nine out of 10. We just lost two games, man. I don't read too much into it." During the regular season, the players never have two straight days off unless it's the All-Star break. Nelson Cruz was asked about having two days in a row without a game. "I don't think it makes a difference. We come out with the same attitude to try and win games," Cruz said. "If it doesn't happen today, just relax and come back tomorrow with more energy and a better attitude then today."
