Greetings from Jupiter
I almost took a wrong turn at Uranus. I'm sitting in the press box at Roger Dean Stadium as the Marlins take infield practice. Still no sign of the Orioles, who are bringing two buses from Sarasota. One bus will head back to Sarasota later today with the players who aren't staying for tomorrow's game against the Cardinals. I'll post the lineup and pass along pre-game comments from manager Dave Trembley. I'll also provide updates on Jeremy Guthrie, who's making his fifth start this spring. He needs a good one. Guthrie has allowed 10 earned runs (11 total) and 15 hits in his last two appearances covering 6 1/3 innings, with four walks and one strikeout. The Blue Jays hit three home runs against him in Thursday's game in Dunedin. All four of his starts have been against division opponents: The Rays, Red Sox, Yankees and Blue Jays. Maybe the Marlins will provide some relief - and I don't mean an early call to the Orioles' bullpen. Cla Meredith, Matt Albers and Kam Mickolio also are scheduled to pitch today. In case you're wondering, Fort Lauderdale Stadium is still standing. I drove past it last night, and my eyes didn't well up with tears. I was a little surprised. I didn't see the Oriole Way street sign. Maybe it's hanging in the sports wing (see what I'm doing here?) of the executive airport's Hall of Fame.
