Orioles lineup vs. Nationals

Aaron Brooks makes his second start with the Orioles tonight as they try for a split of their two-game series with the Nationals.

Brooks worked 2 2/3 scoreless and hitless innings in his debut Saturday in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Rays. He was removed after 32 pitches.

Brooks has never faced the Nationals. Adam Eaton is 2-for-4 against him and Yan Gomes is 1-for-3.

Anthony Santander has moved to left field tonight with Dwight Smith Jr. on the bench and sitting on an 0-for-30 slump.

Hanser Alberto isn't in the lineup. He's with his wife for the birth of their second daughter.

Richie Martin, in an 0-for-21 slump since homering against the Padres on June 25, is playing shortstop. He's also 2-for-28 since June 22.

Erick Fedde is 1-1 with a 3.79 ERA and 1.388 WHIP in 11 games (six starts) this season. He's averaging 4.2 walks and only 4.9 strikeouts per nine innings.

Fedde hasn't pitched for the Nationals since June 20, when he lasted only 3 2/3 innings against the Phillies and walked five batters, and he's never faced the Orioles or any of their current hitters.

The Orioles allowed double-digit hits for the 45th time last night, tied with the Royals for the most in the majors.

The Nats have won 13 of their last 16 games.
