Orioles and Rays lineups

Trey Mancini is getting a rest tonight as the Orioles continue their series against the Rays.

Chris Davis is playing first base and DJ Stewart is in right field.

Left-hander John Means has made three appearances (two starts) against the Rays and allowed eight earned runs (nine total) and 14 hits with one walk and 13 strikeouts in 15 innings. Mike Brosseau homered twice.

Left-hander José Alvarado is making his first career start after 139 relief appearances, including six against the Orioles this summer. He hasn't worked more than 1 1/3 innings.

He's purely an opener tonight.

Left-handed hitters have posted a .194 average with a .540 OPS against Alvarado this season and right-handers are batting .276 with a .825 OPS.

Alvarez faced the Orioles on July 3 and allowed five earned runs (six total) in two-thirds of an inning. Renato Núñez hit a three-run homer.
