Orioles lineup vs. Blue Jays

Orioles catcher Pedro Severino is healthy again and behind the plate for tonight's game against the Blue Jays at Sahlen Field in Buffalo.

Thumbnail image for Severino-Leaves-Game-After-Tip-Off-Mask-Gray-Sidebar.jpgSeverino left Sunday's game against the Red Sox with tightness in his right hip, but he avoided the injured list. He wasn't in yesterday's lineup against the Rays before the Orioles decided not to play.

Hanser Alberto is leading off and playing third base. Shortstop José Iglesias, activated from the injured list yesterday, returns as the No. 3 hitter.

Pat Valaika is the second baseman and Andrew Velazquez is the shortstop.

John Means made one start against the Blue Jays last season and allowed one run with seven strikeouts in five innings. Eric Sogard homered off him.

Left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu faced the Orioles on Aug. 17 and allowed one run in six innings.

Alex Cobb is starting Saturday night. The other two starters are TBD.

Major League Baseball is celebrating Jackie Robinson Day, with players wearing No. 42 on their jerseys and caps.

Today's date is the anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963, which Robinson attended. Also, Branch Rickey met with Robinson on Aug. 28, 1945 to discuss the player's future in the majors.

The Orioles are playing their first major league game in a non-MLB ballpark in club history.

It's been nearly 105 years since a team from Baltimore has played in Buffalo. On Sept. 8, 1915, the Baltimore Terrapins were swept in a doubleheader (4-0, 5-4) by the Buffalo Blues at Federal League Park.

The Orioles are 1 1/2 games behind the Blue Jays in the division standings.
