Marlins 5, Orioles 2
Robert Andino came within a few feet of hitting a grand slam in the top of the ninth, but he made the final out in the Marlins' 5-2 victory. The ball died on the center field warning track. He gave it quite a ride. Luke Scott's RBI double drew the Orioles within three runs. Craig Tatum singled and Brandon Snyder walked to load the bases. Afterward, manager Dave Trembley confirmed that Brian Roberts took live batting practice from both sides of the plate and fielded ground balls. Head athletic trainer Richie Bancells will return to Sarasota tonight and check on Roberts, who's expected to play later this week. Koji Uehara reports that his left hamstring feels better. Trembley noted that Guthrie was "better" today. "He got the first guy out in every inning. Pitched down better. Improved outing," Trembley said. "Now we've got to do a better job of getting the third out. A two-out walk and a hit-by-the-pitch, Guthrie's not going to let that happen. "He got some movement. The one he struck out (Cameron) Maybin on, that's Jeremy Guthrie. He had sink, he ran the ball right in on his hands, so it's there." Trembley mentioned that Kam Mickolio had too many deep counts. Mickolio walked two and struck out two.
