Orioles and Athletics lineups (updated)

The Orioles have scored two runs while losing the first two games of their series in Oakland, but the rotation has allowed one run or fewer in five straight and seven of eight.

Tonight’s lineup includes Ryan McKenna in right field, Anthony Santander in left and Austin Hays on the bench.

Ryan Mountcastle is the designated hitter. Trey Mancini is starting at first base.

Kelvin Gutiérrez is playing third base and Chris Owings is the shortstop.

Owings is 0-for-7 with three walks and seven strikeouts.

Jordan Lyles makes his third start with the Orioles after allowing six runs and 13 hits with five walks and six strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings. He held the Yankees to one run in 5 1/3 innings.

Lyles has a 4.22 ERA and 1.367 WHIP in eight career games (six starts) against the Athletics totaling 49 innings.

The Orioles are 0-5 on the road.

Right-hander Daulton Jefferies, the 37th-overall pick in the 2016 draft, has allowed only two runs in his first two starts in 9 1/3 innings. He’s never faced the Orioles in eight major league games over three seasons.

Jefferies averages only 4.4 strikeouts per nine innings.

Today’s game was moved up 3 ½ hours due to rain in the forecast.
